I’m more than aware of the degree of negativity regarding Social Media Marketing Management, and the ongoing stigma surrounding it. Many brands and businesses still remain hesitant to embrace and adopt SMM into their digital strategy, sometimes due to their own fear, plus others’ doubts/objections and general lack of belief in its overall effectiveness. 

However, leading SMM platform, Hootsuite’s 2022 Social Media Trend survey states that more people of the younger generation now turn to social media to research a brand rather than using search engines, reinforcing that Social Media is indeed proving to be the future for successful marketing and promotion. They said it, not me!

Why have I picked freelancing over agency style work?

 
 

When launching ‘Lightning Bolt’, I felt a very strong pull towards focusing my skill set on a niche market rather than being an 'all sector' Social Media Manager.

Working as a freelancer enables me to be my own boss and allows me to work on a one-to-one basis with my clients. This ensures we're all working from the same page - meaning I’m always your direct point of contact.

What stirs my passion and makes me so different from other Social Media Managers in the Food & Beverage industry? 

 
 

I have spent the past year developing and planning the launch of ‘Lightning Bolt’ Social Media Marketing, but parallel to this I additionally work full time in the Food & Beverage/ hospitality industry and have done for the past 5 years.

These 5 years of experience have given me great insight into the many strengths AND weaknesses of the market, all from within. I quickly began to identify many otherwise successful business owners who just weren't optimising their Social Media quite as thoroughly as they should be, or often not at all. Maybe these entrepreneurs were time, or knowledge poor, or maybe a combination of both. I just knew I was excited to identify a gap in this market. Using my SMM expertise I could tap into developing those businesses, raising their market presence by using effective ideas and fresh content, and just like that, their customers are telling the 'good stories' for them!
